How can I detect and annotate a CDS feature based on an exact match translated match?
Detect and annotate modified or codon optimized CDS DNA sequences based on comparison with a translated feature.
Browse Common Features
To detect translated CDS features first click Features → Browse Common Features....
If your CDS feature of interest in not present in the Common Features database then add it to the Custom Features database, see Detect Custom Features.
Choose and Add the Features
Locate the CDS feature of interest in the Standard or Custom lists. Use the dropdown to switch between the lists.
Select the CDS feature in the list and check the option to "Detect either an exact protein match or an approximate DNA match".
Detect Common Features
Open a target sequence for annotation and click Features → Detect Common Features....
SnapGene will now detect a matching CDS feature on a target sequence based on exact protein match (comparison of translated gene products) or an approximate DNA match (if the percentage identity is above the set threshold, see Detect Common Features).
