How can I define a feature within a DNA sequence?
Select the Sequence Region
Switch to Sequence view and select the sequence region that will be labeled with a feature. In this example, the region representing a vector multiple cloning site (MCS) has been selected.
Add a Feature
To add a new feature, click menu Features → Add Feature....
Set the Feature Name, Type, Directionality and Color
1). Give the feature a name.
2). Click the dropdown menu to choose and set the feature Type.
3). Click the appropriate button to set the directionality (nondirectional, forward, reverse, or bidirectional).
4). Click the color swatch to set a custom feature color.
Enter a Description Qualifier
If needed, enter a description in the "/note" qualifier field. The buttons above this field allow the text to be formatted, and allow symbols or hyperlinks to be inserted.
If needed, use the qualifier dropdown to add other qualifiers.
Click OK to add and view the new feature.
View the Feature
The feature will be displayed in Map, Sequence and Features views. Mouse over the feature to display associated information in a tooltip.
