How can I remove introns from a feature to obtain the spliced sequence?
Use this command to remove introns from:
- a segmented mRNA feature to create the equivalent of a cDNA sequence.
- a segmented CDS feature to create an unsegmented CDS sequence.
To create a segmented feature see How can I divide a feature into segments?
Select the Segmented Feature
In Map, Sequence, or Features view, click to select a CDS or mRNA feature that has exons and introns represented by feature segments.
Splice to Remove Introns
To remove introns from the feature, click Features → Introns → Splice to Remove Introns... .
If desired, adjust the file name of the new sequence. By default segments from the original feature will be merged into a single feature. To create a segmented feature, uncheck the "Merge Segments" check box. Click Splice to make a new sequence file.
View the Sequence
If the segments were merged, you will see a single segment spliced feature.
If the segments are not merged then a segmented feature will be created and the former intron boundaries will be visible as lines in Map or Sequence view.
