If you are the Administrator/Owner of a SnapGene multi-seat license and you want to invite users to transition to your replacement Email-Sign license then see this article – Invite SnapGene Users to Transition to an Email Sign-In License.
Activation using Email Sign-In on macOS and Windows requires SnapGene version 8.0 or later. Activation using Email Sign-In on Ubuntu requires SnapGene version 8.1 or later.
1. Update SnapGene
Update SnapGene if you are not already running the latest version of SnapGene, see How do I update SnapGene?
2. Unregister Your Old Registration Code License
If your old registration code license has expired then SnapGene will revert to "Viewer mode". In this case you do not need to unregister and can skip to step 3.
Start SnapGene and click menu SnapGene → Registration (Mac) or Help → Registration (Windows).
Expand the Registration dialog by clicking the "Help!" disclosure triangle.
Click Unregister This Computer. SnapGene will temporarily revert to "Viewer" mode.
3. Activate Using Your SnapGene My Account Login Details
Click Activate on the SnapGene Viewer banner to activate using Email Sign-In.
