How do I show or hide or set alternative colors on a protein sequence?
Click the "Show colors" Button
To display custom protein colors, view a protein sequence and toggle on the "Show colors" button in the side toolbar.
Alternatively, you can access the same controls via menu View → Map & Sequence Options....

Choose Alternative Color Schemes
Hover over the Show Colors button and click to choose alternative color schemes.

History Colors
If the sequence has been edited to generate History information, then select "History Colors" to show History colors in Map and Sequence view. For more information see What is SnapGene History View?
Custom Amino Acid Colors
If you have set custom amino acid colors (see Customize Protein Sequence Colors) then select "Custom Amino Acid Colors" to show "Custom Amino Acid Colors" in Map View and Sequence view.

Chemical Properties
Choose from one of the three "Chemical Properties" options (Zappo, Clustal X or DNAStar) to color amino acids based on properties. To learn more about these color options see Choose Protein Properties Highlighting Schemes.

Transmembrane Tendency
Choose "Transmembrane Tendency" to color amino acids based on hydrophobicity. To learn more about this color scheme see Choose Protein Properties Highlighting Schemes.
