Set View Options for DNA and RNA Sequences in Map and Sequence views

How do I change the way my DNA or RNA sequence is displayed?

You can change the way a DNA and RNA sequence and annotations are displayed using the toolbars and via the View menu.

Use the Map View Toolbars

In Map view use the toolbar buttons to change how your DNA sequence and associated annotations are displayed. Hover over a side toolbar button and use the associated dropdown to access more options.

Use the following links to learn more about each Toolbar option:

  1. Show Enzymes: see Show or Hide Enzymes Sites.
  2. Show Features: see Show or Hide All Features, Show Features on the DNA Line, and Show or Hide DNA Feature Labels.
  3. Show Primers: see Show or Hide Primers and Adjust Primer Hybridization Parameters.
  4. Show Translations: see Show or Hide Translations and ORFs.
  5. Show Colors: see Show, Hide or Set DNA or RNA Colors.
  6. Show Locations: see Show or Hide Restriction Site or Primer Coordinates on a Map .
  7. Show Alignments: see Show or Hide Sequences Aligned to a Reference Sequence.
  8. Split Content: see View a Sequence with a Split Window.
  9. Show as Circular: show the sequence as a circular map.
  10. Show as linear: Show the sequence as a linear map.
  11. Focus on Region: see Focus on Region (aka Zoom).
  12. Display: Access all display options.

Use the Sequence View Toolbars

In Sequence view use the toolbar buttons to change how your DNA sequence and associated annotations are displayed. Hover over a side toolbar button and use the associated dropdown to access more options.

  11. Display: Access all display options.

Use The View Menu

Access further display options by clicking the View menu.

Click View → Flip Sequence to show the reverse complement of a sequence.  For more information, see - Display the Reverse Complement of a sequence.
