How do I import RNA sequences in SnapGene?
Import an RNA File from NCBI
The NCBI database stores all RNA sequences as DNA. When SnapGene imports an RNA, ss-RNA or mRNA GenBank file it will convert the sequence to RNA (T→U)
Import an RNA file via menu File → Import → NCBI sequences.
Enter the Sequence Accession Number
Enter one or more valid NCBI accession numbers for RNA sequences then click Import.
Click Format Tips to learn how to import multiple NCBI records or a region of an NCBI record.
SnapGene will honor NCBI LOCUS information and import RNA files as RNA.
Click File → Save to save the sequence as a SnapGene .rna file.
Import Text
SnapGene can import sequence files in plain text (raw sequence only), fasta, GenBank, GCG or EMBL.
You can also copy and paste plain or formatted protein sequence information directly into the New RNA Sequence window -see Create an RNA File.
