How do I work with RNA files in SnapGene?
SnapGene 5.3 and later have a specific RNA file type (extension .rna). Earlier versions of SnapGene will import RNA sequences as DNA.
Open the New DNA or RNA Window
Click menu File → New DNA or RNA sequence.
Alternatively, Click the + symbol on the tab bar. Then, in the new sequence window click the + RNA file button.
Enter the RNA sequence and Create a Sequence File
- If required, set the "Sequence Type" to "New RNA File".
- Enter or paste a sequence comprising A, G, C or U (uracil), or paste the text of a formatted RNA sequence (Fasta, GenPept/UniProt or GCG format).
- Set the appropriate "Strandedness" and "Topology".
- Set the "File Name".
Click Create to create a new RNA sequence.
Click File → Save to save the new sequence to an appropriate location on your computer.
