How do I import a multisequence format file (fasta or GenBank) into SnapGene?
GenBank, fasta and fastq† files may contain multiple sequences in a single file. You can import these file types into SnapGene as a Collection.
†SnapGene can import small fastq format files (10-100's of reads) as individual files. Snapgene is not designed to import or assemble NGS fastq datasets.

Drag and drop a multisequence file into the SnapGene Launch window. Alternatively, click File → Open and select the file in the file picker.

In the "Import" window that opens, set the name for the new Collection, and use the Browse button to specify where the new Collection will be saved, then click OK.

All sequences will be converted to separate .dna files and stored within the new Collection.
