How can I focus (zoom in) on a sequence region or feature?
In SnapGene 8.1 the Focus on Region button has been reinstated for sequences over 10,000 bp in length.
You can still access the "Focus on Region" controls for any length sequence via menu View → Focus on Region, or using keyboard hot keys.

Focus on a Region and See the Focus Controls
- View a file greater than 10,000 bp in length and click the Focus on Region button.
- If desired, in Map view first select a sequence region or feature of interest, then click the Focus on Region button. The selection will then be centered in the "focused" view.
- The Focus controls will be displayed at the bottom of the window.
- The rectangle in the right hand overview shows the displayed "focus" location and range within the full sequence.
View or Adjust the "Focus" Region in Map View
To view the "focus" region in Map view, click the Map tab. Bases in the zoom window upstream (and if possible) downstream of the selection are shown.
- To change the number of bases shown on either side of the selection, click the buttons (+ or –). Alternatively, drag the slider.
- To change the width of the "focus" region, edit either the width value or the range bounds.
- Use the "scroll wheel" to move along the sequence.
- Alternatively, to move along the sequence, drag the "focus" window boundary in the overview.
Features, Primers and Enzymes Views when in "Focused" Mode
When in "focused" mode, Features, Primers and Enzymes view will list only those annotations visible within the "focus" region.
