SnapGene 9.0 introduces the ability to design CRISPR gRNAs, and to calculate on-target efficiency and off-target specificity scores via our secure cloud service.
To use CRISPR scoring during the early access period, please contact our customer support team at https://support.snapgene.com/hc/en-us/requests/new to enable cloud access for your license.
Why can’t I access CRISPR scoring?
To use SnapGene’s CRISPR scoring you need:
- An internet connection
- A named user license
If you do not currently have a named user license, do not know what type of license you have, or have any other questions please contact our customer support team.
Troubleshooting common issues:
- Early access. Prior to the full release of SnapGene 9.0, cloud scoring must be manually enabled by our customer support team. Ask your license administrator to contact us to arrange this.
- Incompatible license type. Older license types, including legacy beta, license key and network licenses, cannot connect to the cloud server. Contact us about upgrading to a named user Email sign-in license to access cloud scoring functionality.
- You're on a named user license but still can't access scoring. Your license administrator may have opted out of the cloud service. Contact your administrator to ask about enabling it. See https://insightfulscience.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/10242520575124
- You're using an older version of SnapGene. The Find CRISPR Sites tool, including cloud scoring, was added in SnapGene 9.0. Make sure you update to SnapGene 9.0 to access cloud scoring. Opt into the Early Access Release Channel in preferences to be updated about beta versions of SnapGene.
- Your network can't reach our server. The feature requires an Internet connection with access to our cloud endpoint. Users behind a corporate firewall or proxy may need to allow access, see https://insightfulscience.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/13995807934228.
- You reside in a country that cannot access SnapGene cloud services. Users in China cannot currently access our cloud services.
Data Security
Data integrity and security is of utmost importance and we are committed to continually improving cloud capabilities to ensure customer data is hosted in the most secure environment possible
To leverage industry-leading security standards, we have chosen Amazon Web Services (AWS) as our primary cloud infrastructure provider. AWS is recognized for its comprehensive security and compliance features.
AWS ensures a very high uptime and security of data. Moreover, AWS is constantly monitored for intrusion by third party companies through audits and penetration testing to ensure no vulnerabilities exist.
Sequences submitted for CRISPR site scoring will be uploaded to temporary storage on our secure cloud service to enable calculating the scores. Data in temporary storage cannot be accessed by users and is deleted after 30 days.
For more information, please refer to the Dotmatics Trust Center for SnapGene, which provides artefacts and information intended to help customers and partners understand this products' security, privacy, quality, and compliance posture.
Opting out of CRISPR scoring
If you wish to disable access to SnapGene’s cloud functionality, a license administrator should contact our customer support team.
The Find CRISPR Sites tool can still be used to search for CRISPR sites with scoring disabled. Running it in this mode does not submit any data to our cloud server.
