How do I search a project folder?
SnapGene 9.0 has a new unified Project search!
Unified Search
SnapGene 9.0 and later provide unified search. Enter a search phrase and all matching results in the open project folder are reported.
Searches include all files within the project folder as well as within any subfolders.
Matches will be found in:
File names |
Enzymes |
DNA / RNA / Protein sequences/Trace files |
Primer Names |
Agarose Gels |
History |
Pairwise and multiple alignments |
Notes |
Features, including feature names, qualifiers and CDS feature translations |
Local Databases (Primer database) |
Start a Search
Open a folder as a "Project" (see Use the SnapGene Project Interface) then click within the "Search and filter files" field and type a search phrase to start a search.
Result will be listed, scroll to see all results.
Click See all results, or else, hit enter to show the results as a new tab.
Matches for the search phrase will be reported per matching file.
The location of each match is reported. For example, in the highlighted result below, the phrase "GFP" is found in the file name, in a feature name, in a feature product qualifier, in primer names, and twice in the file History.
Double click on a search result to open the file as a new tab.
