How do I register a SnapGene sequence in Dotmatics Bioregister?
Connection to, and use of, Dotmatics Bioregister is possible in SnapGene 6.2.1 and later. Bioregister requires separate purchase from Dotmatics. Visit Dotmatics https://www.dotmatics.com/capabilities/entity-registration for more information.
Before you register a sequence, make sure you have:
- Logged in to your Bioregister account as described in the lesson - Authenticate in Dotmatics Bioregister.
- Opened the sequence in SnapGene.
Register a sequence
Create or open a sequence file in SnapGene.
Click File → Register in Dotmatics Bioregister to start sequence registration.
Alternatively, using the top Toolbar, click Save → Register in Dotmatics Bioregister to start the registration workflow.
Click the dropdown menus to select the appropriate Entity Type: and Subtype: to be used in Bioregister. Sequence (DNA, RNA or Protein) and Vector types are supported for registration†. Click Register to proceed with registration, or click Cancel to exit the registration process.
† SnapGene alignment (.dnaln and .praln), gel (.gel) and trace (.ab1 and .scf) file types are not supported by Bioregister.
Complete the meta-data fields as requested by Bioregister then click Upload to proceed.
For some sequence entities, Bioregister asks to review information that will be stored in Bioregister. Click the Create button to proceed.
Review the selected sequence entity's registration result and Bioregister ID. If the registration fails, an error message will be displayed.
The Bioregister ID will be displayed in the Description panel.
Click on the "Bioregister ID:" link to view the sequence entity on the Bioregister web page.
