We have had a small number of Windows users report that the initial releases of SnapGene 6.1.0 and SnapGene Viewer 6.1.0 are unable to run, with the errors...
"the code execution cannot proceed because icu.DLL was not found"
or...
"The procedure entry point uhash_open could not be located in the
dynamic link library C:\windows\SYSTEM32\icuin.dll"
We have identified the cause of this issue and a revised version of SnapGene 6.1.0 has now been released.
To fix this issue do the following:
Users who encountered this issue and downgraded to SnapGene 6.0.7:
To update to the revised 6.1.0 please do the following:
Run SnapGene 6.0.7, or SnapGene Viewer 6.0.7, and click Help → Check for Updates.
The software will advise the 6.1.0 update is available.
Click Install Updates to install the revised version 6.1.0.
The revised 6.1.0 installation will run without the error. If you still have issues after updating then contact our support team at https://support.snapgene.com/hc/en-us/ for assistance.
For any users that encounter this error for the first time:
To update to the revised 6.1.0 please do the following:
1. Quit SnapGene.
2. Log in to your SnapGene account at https://www.snapgene.com/auth/login.
3. Download the SnapGene 6.1 installer, or SnapGene Viewer 6.1.0 installer, and run it to overwrite your current installation.
